Alex’s practice includes commercial litigation, dispute resolution, and workplace investigations. Alex strives to provide his clients with pragmatic and thoughtful advice, while remaining a strong advocate for their best interests.

With experience in a variety of litigation and dispute resolution areas, including construction, insurance, arbitration, employment, and contractual disputes, Alex offers advice on effective alternative strategies for dispute resolution and representation for court matters.  

Alex also conducts workplace investigations for private and public organizations in a range of areas, including fraud, harassment and discrimination, code of conduct violations, and breaches of security and confidentiality. Many of the investigations Alex has conducted have involved organizations with special considerations related to confidentiality, including those involving minors, criminal law matters, and elected officials.

In addition to investigations, Alex conducts comprehensive workplace culture assessments for a variety of organizations to assist them in understanding issues related to culture, behaviour, leadership, staff development and productivity. He provides recommendations for addressing root causes and develops policies and other resources to address workplace issues.

Before joining Kingsgate, Alex gained experience in both litigation and corporate commercial law at an international law firm, where he was also actively involved in the firm’s diversity and inclusion work. Alex completed his JD at the University of Alberta, where he also earned his B.Sc. in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. During law school, he was involved in supporting equity-seeking groups such as OUTLaw and the Faculty of Law Equality and Respect Committee.
