Jamie has practiced law in Alberta since 1993 both in private practice and as General Counsel for a major utility. She now focuses on providing outside General Counsel advice to organizations on a myriad of issues, including governance and workplace issues.

Jamie has practiced law in Alberta since 1993 both in private practice and as General Counsel for a major utility. She now focuses on providing outside General Counsel advice to organizations on a myriad of issues, including governance and workplace issues.

Jamie has been a lawyer in Alberta since 1993 in private practice and as in-house General Counsel. She co-founded Kingsgate Legal in 2017 and her current focus is governance, workplace investigations, workplace culture assessments, ethics and compliance policies and frameworks, and assisting organizations shift workplace culture. Jamie is seen as one of the premier investigators in Canada, having in recent years completed over 400 investigations on a variety of topics, including harassment, sexual harassment, sexual assault, discrimination, violence, conflict of interest, breach of security policies, and a number of other areas. Jamie is particularly sought out when dealing with matters involving boards, elected officials and councils.

Jamie conducts workplace culture assessments for large and small organizations, and has experienced great success with helping organizations modernize and improve their workplace culture. She works closely with boards, CEOs, and senior leaders, and is seen as a valued and trusted advisor.

In 2018, Jamie was appointed as the first Integrity Commissioner for the City of Edmonton. This involved investigating Code of Conduct complaints against Council Members. She also regularly advises on best practices for Codes of Conduct processes and protocols for elected officials, and conducts Code of Conduct investigations in other jurisdictions. That type of work was put on hold in May 2025 in Alberta while the Government updates the legislation related to Codes of Conduct for elected officials.

Jamie is regularly a guest speakertrainer, and instructor on best practices for investigations, ethics, compliance, governance, and shifting workplace culture.

Jamie is committed to giving back to the community. Over the years, she has sat on a number of non-profit Boards, including the Alberta Cancer Foundation, WINHouse (President), and the Canadian Hemophilia Society (President Alberta Region) and the Board of the United Way (Alberta Capital Region) (Governance Chair). She is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of her contributions to Canada for her work in the community.
